Getting Paid to Blog
Over the last couple month’s I’ve been seeing a lot of talk on the webmaster forums at v7n about blogging for cash, contextual links, submitting articles and sponsored reviews. Text links ads are old news but apparently still working for many people. Recently I noticed Bizrate.com has been doing well in Google’s SERPS and sure enough - Biz Rate is a customer of Patrick Gavin’s T-L-A program. Last summer I was emailed by an SEO person from BR offering to buy text links off of one of my websites. I declined. The offer was for $50 a month ~ they wanted to pursue links relating to skiing and snowboarding. In retrospect I think I said no because they are a direct competitor of a couple of the websites I’m positioning next to theirs in the SE’s.
The point is text link ads are still working {to some extent} and ad on blogs are becoming more popular for people seeking to build link popularity. Links from yourwebsite.com/links.html or joesgiftsite.com/linkdirectory/ seem to be more devalued every year. However, they’re still an important part of a well rounded, robust, link building campaign in the over all scheme of things.
This week I’ve signed up for buyablogger.com, sponsoredreviews.com and payperpost.com ~ I’ve heard good and bad things about both services. Since I’ve already been selling post here and there for a little while now, and I have a little PR to give up, why not try out for myself and see what comes of it right?
I’ll have to follow up to this post in a month or so to share my experiences with these two companies. Wish I would have started sooner!
