Canvas Lined Sandals
It’s been about 3 months since I’ve slipped on a pair of shoes. Actually wearing socks just feels wrong. Today the rain came back into town, but since May, I’ve worn nothing but flip flops everyday. Working in an office that accepts board shorts and flip flops as standard attire is great. Waking up in the morning, well thats easy too. Today I think I’m going to wear this pair of boardshorts and these sandals. Its just sooo easy I love it. Too bad sandal weather in Portland, Oregon only last about three months a year. Then again, I do love seasons and watching them change so I welcome them as they come.

For the last couple years I’ve had a vested interest with a couple online stores to sell Reef Sandals. The job has come with many benefits including over a half a dozen pair of reef flip flops that I’ve grown to love. I’ve tested several styles of sandles now and I’ve become sort of a sandal slut. I can’t live without them now. Through the last couple years I’ve been putting many miles on footwear with moldable eva footbeds that form to your feet. Although not all Reef Sandals mold to your feet, some of them are actually kind of rigid. Which has pros and cons to wearing flip flops all day.
Sandals mostly come in 4 flavors… Rubber, Leather, Canvas & EVA Soft Rubber that forms to your feet.
Rubber - Better for long walks.
Leather - More stylish, you can get away with wearing nice leather sandals to many restaurants.
Canvas - These are the best for travel.
Before this summer I’ve never worn a pair of sandals lined with canvas. I’ve always worn the rubber soled models. But my newest discovery in footwear is how canvas soaks up the sweat off your feet. When you’re wearing rubber sandals, { like chaco sandals } your feet just sweat to the bottom. With the canvas, the flip flops wick the wetness off your feet keeping you dry and comfy. The only downfall of the canvas reef sandals versus the rubber reef sandles is the canvas gets dirty faster because of all that sweat its soaking up. Gross? Maybe, but comfort is key when traveling and I’d take a canvas lined pair of sandals anyday over any other pair of flip flops.

Said this on April 1st, 2009 at 8:50pm:You are right! Canvas lined sandals are comfortable. I decided to purchase a pair of the reef canvas sandals and found that my soles of my feet really felt “aired-out”. My Chaco’s don’t make my feet sweat as much as my older Teva’s. Yes, the sweat just lays on the rubber footbed to the sandal. I don’t like the idea of your feet sweating in open footwear, it does not seam right. I use too work in a sporting good store and wore the regular style Teva’s sandals in the summer every day to work like most of the employees. I remember one of the gals told use if our feet started to sound sticky we would need to air out feet to let the sandals dry. I never know what that ment until one day I was told by one of my co-workers that she could hear my feet sticking to the footbeds of my sandals. My feet were sweaty.
