Fun with SEO Terms

SEO Terms

Portland SEO

This is my attempt to get a nice list of industry terms going. I’ve been meaning to start it for a while now, but finally just found the time today. If you’re a seasoned SEO you probably have heard of most of these marketing-website related terms. If you’re newer to SEO or learning about search engine optimization, you might find something useful here:

SEO - Search Engine Optimization

SERM - Search Engine Reputation Management

PPC - Pay Per Click

KPI - Keyword Performance Indicator

ORM - Online reputation management

QDF - Query Deserves Freshness

SSEO - Social and Search Engine Optimization

LB - Link Building

LBC - Local Business Center (Google)

Google Places - Formerly Known As Google Local

Citations - You can find these under the ‘Web Pages’ tab of a Google Local Listing

Social Engagement - Embeddable digital media assets into a website to get users to engage in the content presented to them. More info on social engagement <<< here.

FB - Facebook

WP - Wordpress

Adwords - Google’s Pay Per Click Sponsored Section

Tweet - This is what people do when they’re leaving a short message on twitter.

Spamming & Jamming - Going to a website just to drop a link and then immediately leaving.

White Hat SEO - Honest and ethical search engine optimization strategies.

Black Hat SEO - Search engine optimization techniques that unethically present content by breaking search engine rules and regulations.

Portland SEO

Gray Hat SEO - The gray area that some SEO consultants go between the white and black area of search engine optimization.

Pink Hat SEO - A technique that only partially reveals the sites content which confuses Google and multiplies the traffic to your website - or - some people say Pink Hat SEO is using nice looking female profiles to promote your business in social media and other online communities. This is a link to an interesting thread on the subject.

301 Redirect - Permanent redirection of a page or web site

302 Redirect - Temporary redirection of a web page or website

ATDs - Anchor text and descriptions

Let me know if you have anymore to add….
