Google Sandbox
The Google Sandbox -
A few years ago in 2003 before Google ruled the Earth, back when Yahoo! was still a dominating force in the saga for the best search engine…. it used to be a lot easier to position a website in the top 10 of a search engine.
Since then Algorithm Engineers have come up with some brilliant ways to keep webmasters and search engine manipulators scratching their heads: leaving them to come up with new tactics in order to stay on top of the engineers changes.
Now I can’t say that I’ve never used a couple frowned upon techniques. Yeah and I’ve heard some people call them black hat techniques…. but whether they were bad or good the fact is some things/tactics used to just work. Fortunately, for the sake of better search results – most of those ” bad ” techniques don’t work anymore.
In retrospect I thought it would be interesting to list out some of the old techniques that used to work, here…
1. Same color text as the background.
2. Hidden text
3. Domain names using the keyword in the URL.
- More to come…. and finally the sandbox.
