What to Consider Before Buying a Puppy
Do I spend enough time at home?
Who is going to take care of your dog or puppy while you travel?
Am I prepared to take my dog outside three to five times a day?
Am I willing to be dragged out of bed first thing Sunday morning?
Do I have the patience and persistence to train a dog?
Can I afford the high cost of vet care?
Will Your Home Owners Insurance cover a dog?
Will Your Home Owners Insurance cover an aggressive dog?
Mine doesn’t.
If you answered yes to all those questions, then go ahead: get a dog! Once you’re ready to get a dog, please don’t buy him or her from a pet shop. Pet shops keep puppy mills in business. As well, dogs in pet shops are more likely to have health or temperament problems. Instead, get a dog directly from reputable local dog breeders, from a shelter, or from a rescue group.
PetFinder.com is a great place to find dogs and puppies that need a home in your area. There you can find a wide range of Dogs like Rottweilers, Beagles, Dobermans, Cane Corso, Italian Mastiff, Labrador Retrievers and tons of Loving Mutts that need a home.
